At DeTray Farms, we offer a unique pollination service designed with small growers in mind. Unlike traditional commercial beekeeping operations that move hives in and out for short-term crop pollination, we establish year-round apiaries right on your property.
Why Honey Bees?
- Efficient Pollinators: Their hairy bodies and pollen baskets (corbiculae) are built to carry pollen.
- Flower Fidelity: Bees visit the same type of flower during each foraging trip—greatly improving pollination.
- Hive Communication: Foraging bees direct their sisters to prime pollen sources for maximum impact.
What Makes Us Different?
- No Payment Required: You provide space; we manage the hives and harvest the honey.
- Small Footprint: We only need enough room for 4–10 colonies, ideal for small farms.
- Long-Term Placement: We don’t rotate our hives—your crops receive consistent, reliable pollination all season long.
